The Golden Years of Laser, since 1966
Foundation of the Coherent Radiation start-up, design of the first CO2 laser with a power output of 75W.
Coherent Radiation acquires Laser Inc., which would become the industrial division of the group, producing slow-flow CO2 lasers.
Following an investment by General Electric, Coherent radiation becomes Coherent General, with the purpose of designing a new generation of Nd:YAG lasers.
Coherent General is acquired by Transtec to form Coherent. The group's laser division takes the name of Convergent Energy.
Coherent (Transtec) acquires United Technology Industrial Laser (UTIL), and the name of the laser division is changed to Convergent Lasers.
Convergent Lasers joins the Prima Industrie Group.
Convergent Lasers is sold to the Prima Electro business, creating the Convergent brand.
Convergent becomes Convergent Photonics, a rebrand that aimed to underline the brand's desire to assert its identity in the photonics technology market.
Creation of Prima Electro DieFab and incorporation into the Convergent Photonics business to manage the development and production of semiconductors and diode laser technologies for industrial applications.
Development of the first laser sources for the medical market and strategic repositioning of the brand.
Convergent Photonics continues to grow in the medical market, becoming one of Italy's leading suppliers of laser sources for surgical and aesthetic applications.
